This took place at Southmere Boating Centre, Thamesmead. The purpose of the course was to provide an improved safety awareness and to learn rescue skills which can be used to help yourself and/or others in difficulty. There was the chance to get the canoe safety test qualification which is a pre-req for joining the BCU coaching scheme. Further details:

The lake in which we took the safety test featured in Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange". In the film Alex throws one of his droogs into the lake.
